Gill’s search for the perfect mother of the bride outfit
Emma, Gill’s daughter, was getting married at the stunning Hedsor House in Taplow, Buckinghamshire. THE MODISTE team were already helping her to create the perfect fit for her wedding dress.
As with many women we help, Gill was finding it difficult to find a mother of the bride outfit that she really loved. We immediately fell in love with Gill’s kind, elegant charm and knew we could help with our bespoke dressmaking service, creating elegant and classic special occasion wear. In fact, we could not wait to get started!
Our Collaborative Design Process
Gill sat down for a private chat with our highly experienced dressmaker Cathy in our comfortable Victorian atelier in High Wycombe. Our bespoke dressmaking process is very collaborative and personal. Cathy discussed Gill’s likes and dislikes and together they explored various dress design options.
Cathy and Gill considered Gill’s particular favourite and flattering colours and tones, especially pinks and blues. Gill was able to see and feel the fabrics in our extensive materials library. She was also was able to compare different skirt shapes and. decide what she felt most comfortable in, for example, comparing a fitted or circle skirt.
As a result of our conversations, Gill finalised the design for her mother of the bride outfit: a powder blue high-neck fitted bodice with soft white piping detail. The dress flowed into a fitted pencil skirt which ‘kicks out’ at the bottom to create stunning movement and flow.
Making Gill’s Dream Dress Come True
Between fabric trips to London, dress fittings and catch-ups over the phone, Gill’s mother of the bride outfit started to take shape in our atelier.
We also had the pleasure of helping Gill’s daughter Emma with her wedding dress alterations, which needed some final adjustments.
The trials of 2020 meant that Emma’s wedding day had to be postponed. We couldn’t wait for the day when we could finally see both Emma and Gill shine in their dresses.
