- Final cost may exceed initial quotation if additional work or unforeseen complexities arise.
- Please arrive on time to your appointment. Missed appointments will be charged at £30 per hour.
- Please bring your underwear and shoes you intend to wear to your fitting unless discussed with The Secret Fitting Room beforehand. Any appointments without shoes may be changed an additional £40
- Please wear minimal makeup to avoid staining your dress.
- The Modiste reserves the right to change an additional ‘rush fee’ for any short time frames.
- The customer must accept that individual’s weight and body size can change significantly during the alterations period. If this is the case further alterations and additional cost may be required. The team will discuss this all with you if there are any concerns.
- The Modiste has limited insurance. If you require full protection, you should cover your wedding dress on your personal or wedding insurance. The Modiste will take the upmost care of your garments however all items are left with us at your own risk.
- The Modiste holds all personal data at our studio in High Wycombe in digital form. We do not pass on any data to any third parties. After your wedding we will occasionally contact you via email regarding additional services or to check if you were happy with our service. You will be able to opt out of these emails.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR MODIFY
- By sending your dress, this is agreement for The Modiste to cut/ alter your dress in ways agreed in your design consultation to create your requested product.
- The Modiste has limited insurance. If you require full protection, you should cover your wedding dress on your personal or wedding insurance. The Modiste will take the upmost care of your garments however all items are left with us at your own risk.
- The Modiste holds all personal data at our studio in High Wycombe in digital form. We do not pass on any data to any third parties. After your wedding we will occasionally contact via email regarding additional services or to check if you were happy with our service. You will be able to opt out of these emails.
- If unwilling to proceed with your order, this will need to be made clear to The Modiste via email and your deposit cost can be refunded to you.
- Material library – if you are happy for The Modiste to keep your materials in our library for a year after your purchase, we will need confirmation of how you would like your materials used by the end of this period otherwise you will be agreeing for The Modiste to recycle them.
- Children’s clothing – by using the material requested from your wedding dress, it is the responsibility of the customer to determine the suitability of dressing children in garments. The Modiste will highlight any concerns when accepting your order, but will endeavour to complete the order design as requested.
- The Modiste will explain to the customer at the design stage how much material will be needed to complete their order. By placing the order, the customer accepts the quantity may vary.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
PAYMENTS
- An estimated price will be given for all alterations at your first dress fitting appointment. A £90 deposit payment will be taken at the first fitting appointment and payment in full must be made at the second fitting appointment.
- The final cost may exceed the initial estimate due to, but not limited to, unforeseen complexity, increases in cost of materials or other factors beyond the control of The Modiste Ltd.
- The balance of payment is to be made in full, either by cash, debit or credit card at your second fitting appointment.
PRICES
- Prices, rates and fees are correct at June 2023.
- Subsequent price changes will be informed via a separate tariff sheet which will be attached to this proforma.
AT YOUR APPOINTMENT
- You are welcome to bring one person with you for each fitting. This restriction is due to the space and practicalities when fitting your dress.
- Please bring the underwear you intend to wear on your wedding day to your first, and subsequent fittings. If the dress needs to be shortened, the shoes you intend to wear with the dress must be bought. If this is not possible, please bring shoes of the same height. In both cases please note that your signature on your alterations agreement is acceptance that the hem length, as pinned, is correct.
- Please wear minimal makeup to avoid soiling your dress.
TIMESCALES
- Please allow six to eight weeks for The Modiste Ltd to carry out your alterations. The Modiste Ltd will however, do the utmost to accommodate your timescale.
- The customer must accept that individual’s weight and body size can change significantly during the alteration period and that if this is the case, further alterations may be required at second and subsequent fittings. The cost of further alterations due to body size or weight change will be met by you, the client.
- If your wedding dress is being dropped off, collected by or paid for by anyone other than the bride/owner of the dress, please inform TheModiste Ltd in advance.
INSURANCE AND LIABILITY
- The Modiste has limited insurance. If you require full protection you should cover your wedding dress on your personal household or wedding insurance. The Modiste Ltd will take the utmost care of your garments; however, all items are left with The Modiste Ltd at your own risk.
- On the final collection you will be required to sign an inspection form stating that you have inspected your dress fully and are satisfied with the work that has been completed.
- Should you require dress aftercare repairs to be carried out on a dress, repairs will be completed on your dress as discussed in consultation with Jennifer Crooks, managing director of The Ltd or one of The Modiste team. Repairs will be stated in a separate repair agreement.
- All payments are final. We do not offer refunds of re-sell dresses on your behalf if you change your mind.
